43ste INTERNATIONAL “100 KM DODENTOCHT®” BORNEM – PROV. ANTWERPEN – BELGIUM

The International 100km Dodentocht® will start from Bornem for the 43th time this year.

Once again, about 10 000 participants took up the challenge of the Dodentocht® in 2010. Maybe you are one of those who have already walked with us one of the times it was held previously and you are feeling an irresistible urge to take up the challenge once again. Or maybe you have never done a major walk like this before and you think that Bornem and the surrounding area would be the ideal place to do so for the first time. It doesn’t matter what your motivation is. You now have the opportunity to enter the biggest European 100-kilometre walk. It is not a competition – there is just the challenge of completing a hundred kilometres in a maximum of 24 hours.

There will be a number of significant changes with respect to last year’s edition, and we have summarized them briefly here:

• For reasons of safety, those taking part in the Dodentocht® are no longer allowed to use recumbent bikes or other chain-driven vehicles

• We have changed the way the tags are used in comparison with last year. We will now be working with disposable tags. You will therefore no longer get a bill if you should lose your tag

• A walkers’ booklet will no longer be sent to you after registration (and payment of the entry fee). You will receive a letter confirming your entry, along with your starting number, practical information about picking up your chip, and so forth. The entire walkers’ booklet will be made available online on our website by then, and you will also receive it when you fetch your chip

• The starting cards and the walkers’ booklet can be picked up on several different days before the Dodentocht®. On-the-day entry will also start three days before the Dodentocht®. Exact dates and times will be announced later.

DATE: VRIJDAG 10 AUGUSTUS 2012 at 9.00 PM. Walk or jog 100km in a minimum of 10 hours and a maximum of 24. Every checkpoint has its own opening and closing times that all participants must observe strictly.

• In the event of an accident, contact the organizers or the care services, ask for an accident report form to fill in and make sure that your name, full address and a description of the accident have been filled in on the forms.

• Advance registration: the registration fee is €30. You can pre-register by sending in the entry form before 15 July to 100km Dodentocht® Kadee, Postbus 100, 2880 Bornem, Belgium and transferring the amount required to Fortis Bank account number 001 2999999 59, stating the name, address and date of birth of all participants. This account number is the only method of payment. Other types of payment will not be accepted! Benefits: price difference, quicker processing when fetching the starting card. The starting card and a brochure with a description of the route can be picked up on three days at the end of July and beginning of August (the precise dates and times will be stated in your letter of confirmation). Or they can naturally be picked up on the day of the Dodentocht® itself in the tent on the Kerkplein (church square).

As well as being able to pay on the day itself, there are also three days at the end of July and beginning of August when you can register for €35 (exact dates and times to be announced). The best places to leave your car are the large car parks along the N16, from which there is a bus connection! We would recommend using public transport as the best way of avoiding traffic jams.

• Accessibility by train: NMBS is improving capacity on the trains; from Sint-Niklaas and Mechelen there are trains every hour that stop in Bornem..  Check the timetables on www.nmbs.be

Group registration: use the special group form, which can be obtained on request or downloaded via www.dodentocht.be. Clubs are only accepted via the group form in groups of at least 10 people
