Supporters: indispensable, but please with care
100KM Death March is more than just the participants. Supporters also make the march a unique experience. Your encouragement provides atmosphere, motivation and unforgettable moments.
But for everything to run smoothly and safely, we also ask a little cooperation from you.
Below you will find all the information to make it a pleasant and respectful experience for everyone.
Everything you need to know as a supporter
Supporting along the way is great, but we find that many want to park as close to the checkpoints as possible.
Understandable, but often pointless: the streets around checkpoints are temporarily closed to traffic.
Therefore we provide parking lots especially for supporters (overview in pdf).
- Follow the signs on site.
- Respect the parking and traffic rules.
- Check in advance where the supporter car parks are located.
By walking a short distance from the parking you not only show respect for the organization, but you also contribute to the smooth running of the tour.
We provide a detour in the vicinity of the checkpoints for supporting walkers and cyclists.
We also provide clearly marked parking lots in Bornem itself for visitors and supporters. We urge you to:
- Not to park haphazardly in the center.
- Follow traffic signs, closures and the instructions of police, stewards and signalmen.
- Not to block private areas, footpaths or bike paths.
We understand that you like to stay close to your participant, but we urge you to ride along on the course as little as possible. It creates:
- Dangerous situations.
- Nuisance for other walkers.
- Reduced flow, especially on narrow sections.
You can agree in advance where you will see your participant again, near a checkpoint or along the trail.
To give everyone the peace and quiet they deserve, the checkpoints are open only to walkers.
As a supporter:
- Do not have access to the supplies.
- Are the chairs, benches and supply points for participants only.
- We ask you to give priority to walkers who really need a rest or care.
Support is perfectly possible outside the checkpoints: with an applause, a banner or a boost at the right moment.
We provide a detour for supporting walkers and cyclists near the checkpoints.
As supporters, you are golden. That one encouragement at kilometer 83, that sign at a difficult spot, that smile in the middle of the night, they make a world of difference.
So keep supporting, keep motivating but do it with respect for the walkers, the volunteers and the environment. Together we will make this another unforgettable edition!
