Supporters

Please! But know how to make a difference

Supporters: essential, but please with care

100KM Dodentocht is more than just the participants. Supporters also make the march a unique experience. Your encouragement provides atmosphere, motivation and unforgettable moments.
But for everything to run smoothly and safely, we also ask a little cooperation from you.

Below you will find all the information you need to make it an enjoyable and respectful experience for everyone.

Everything you need to now as supporter

Supporting on the road is great, but we notice that many want to park as close to the checkpoints as possible.
Understandable, but often pointless: the streets around checkpoints are temporarily closed to traffic.
We therefore provide car parks especially for supporters.   (overview in pdf)

  • Please follow the signs on site.
  • Respect the parking and traffic rules.
  • Check in advance where the supporters’ car parks are located.

By walking a bit from the parking you not only show respect for the organisation, but you also contribute to the smooth running of the tour.

We provide a diversion for supporting walkers and cyclists near the checkpoints.

We also provide clearly marked car parks in Bornem itself for visitors and supporters. We urge you to:

  • Not to park haphazardly in the centre.
  • Follow traffic signs, closures and the instructions of police, stewards and signallers.
  • Not to block private areas, footpaths or cycle paths.

We understand that you like to stay close to your participant, but we urge you to cycle along as little as possible on the course. It creates:

  • Dangerous situations.
  • Disruption to other walkers.
  • Reduced flow, especially on narrow stretches.

You can arrange in advance where you will see your participant again, near a checkpoint or along the course.

To give everyone the peace and quiet they deserve, the checkpoints are only open to walkers.
As a supporter:

  • You will not have access to supplies.
  • Are the chairs, benches and supply points for participants only.
  • We ask you to give priority to walkers who really need a rest or care.

Support is perfectly possible outside the checkpoints: with an applause, a banner or a boost at the right moment.

We provide a diversion in the area around of the checkpoints for supporting walkers and cyclists.

As supporters, you are golden. That one encouragement at kilometre 83, that sign at a difficult spot, that smile in the middle of the night, they make a world of difference.

So keep supporting, keep motivating but do it with respect for the march, the walkers, the volunteers and the environment.

Together, we will make it another unforgettable edition!
