Not a traditional 100Km Dodentocht in August 2021

The second weekend of August, there will be no 100Km Dodentocht start this year either. Bringing together 13,000 hikers and once as many spectators is unfortunately not yet possible this summer.

Due to the current Covid-19 Epidemiological situation, the organization of international mass events during the summer of 2021 will come under increasing pressure.
In the meantime, the municipality of Bornem also announced, after consultation with the emergency services, that it cannot give the green light for the 2021 edition. A large-scale organization, in which more than 10,000 people come together at the same time at the same location, is therefore also not an option this year.

We would have preferred to see it differently and hoped that on August 13, 2021 we would again be at the start of the 52nd edition of the 100Km Dodentocht with 13,000 hikers.

But ensuring the safety and health of our volunteers and walkers comes first.
For us as an organization it is not an option to move the 100Km Dodentocht to a later date this year. We will, however, start working on a corona-proof alternative. Because everyone within the organization is eager to organize another larger walking event.
